Past & Present Programs
As the only national consortium of Vietnamese American service providers, NAVASA has become an important national voice for Vietnamese Americans throughout the United States, providing technical assistance, training, funding, and a networking capacity. NAVASA's past and current projects include: MAAs and organizations.
NAVASA National Conference , an annual meeting that provides in depth training and technical assistance for affiliate members and other individual and groups.
National Ethnic Community Self Help Project (NECSHP) , funded by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) for affiliate members to work toward expanding and building their organizations' capacity and strengthening linkages among ethnic community-based and faith-based.
Values, Empowerment, Resources, and Betterment (VERB) Project , national partnered with Cambodian-American Network Coalition (CANC), Hmong National Development (HND), Laotian American National Association (LANA), and Southeast Asia Resource Action Center (SEARAC) to help provide Vietnamese faith-based organizations and MAAs greater access to resources, funding, and training.
The Orientation Service for Vietnamese Returnees (ROVR) Project , funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and ORR, helps recent newcomers to the U.S. adjust to life in America and gain full-time employment.
English Literacy and Civics Education Project , funded by the U.S. Department of Education, provides social services programs serving newcomers, welfare recipients, and senior citizens nation-wide.
The Southeast Asian Citizenship Collaborative Project provides civic education and citizenship preparation for refugees and immigrants from Southeast Asia.
The Community Empowerment Project enables the Vietnamese speaking community to participate in the socioeconomic mainstream of Montgomery County in Maryland.
The Montgomery County Teen Tobacco Project works toward smoking prevention and treatment program for Vietnamese youths in Montgomery County, Maryland.
