MISSION: To promote community-based organizations in their roles and responsibilities for the development of the Southeast Asian Communities.

GOAL:

• To assist refugees and families as a unit with cultural and social services in moving them toward a better life and a bright future.
• To promote the community development of the Southeast Asian refugee population of 150,000+ people in Harris County.

HISTORY: The Social & Cultural RDI was established by a group of refugees with twenty eight years of resettlement survival experience to identify the refugee challenge and to meet that challenge. The Social & Cultural RDI is a non-profit, tax-exempt community-based organization . The Social & Cultural RDI received its first state funding in 1994 and has grown dramatically since then.

The Social & Cultural RDI is currently operating a variety of programs to assist the refugees and the immigrants to be self-sufficient.
