Jason Tran
Summer 2003 Intern

Jason Hoai Tran was the summer advocacy and public policy intern for NAVASA. Jason was responsible for creating and storing policy briefings, researching public policies affecting Vietnamese Americans, and communicating with NAVASA national partners.

In addition to his Vietnamese and English language skills, Jason is also fluent in Chinese. Jason has worked as an English instructor at Modern English, Inc in Beijing, China, The Renqiu School of Research, in Renqui, China, and The Center for Asian Americans in Washington, D.C. He designed and implemented curriculum for beginning, intermediate and advanced English instructors, in addition to work on the educational programming of informative public television broadcasts.

Jason is also skilled in martial arts, acquiring a first degree black belt in Korean martial arts and having studied Chinese Kung-fu Wushu, and Taichi at Shao-lin Temple in Henan, China. Jason has shared his talent by instructing others in Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C. and Beijing, China. He has also performed at a number of events including International Night at Catholic University, The 69th Annual Embassy Dinner and the Vietnamese Student Association First Annual Banquet at The George Washington University.

Jason has studied Chinese Language and Culture at the Beijing Foreign Studies University. Recently graduating from The George Washington University, Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Chinese Language and Literature and a Japanese Language and Literature minor, Jason will be studying for a Ph.D. in Vietnamese Literature, Culture and History at Cornell University this fall.
