Daphne Truong
Spring 2004 Intern

Daphne was the Spring intern for 2004 where her primary duty was to research the Vietnamese demographic in the United States which had becamme an excellent resource for any NAVASA affiliate. (Click here to see some of her work.)

Daphne, an ambitious, studious, compassionate 21year old woman has modeled her life after achievement in everything she does and her parents whom she looks up to very much. Over her academic career in her 3rd year at Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, Delaware Daphne has found triumph success in many respects. Studying Marketing Management and holding a minor of Business Administration she has excelled in the classroom, gaining the respect from many facility members and college administration. Daphne was heavily involved in student service and student organizations before being selected for her Internship. Whether it was serving as a Resident Assistant for 2 years to her peers or as a Student Government Representative she has worked in favor of the best interests of her fellow students. Aside from student service Daphne is a member of Theta Phi Alpha, where she served as Vice President of her sorority and also is an active member of Christian Ministry Team. She has, in addition, worked with numerous community service agencies since junior high school such as the Red Cross, Adopt a Highway, soup kitchens and more. Hailing from Lancaster, Pennsylvania she soon would like to call any big city home. She loves to do research and gain knowledge of any and many different fields of study.

Not yet has she made up her mind as to what kind of job position or field she would like to hold, but Daphne has every intention of going for her masters and possibly a PhD. In her free time she likes to read or go out with friends or spend time with brother, Oliver. With her hard work and the dictation she possess, Daphne is a very valuable resource to her family, her school and her friends. Often the young determined unsung hero, what keeps Daphne going when times look bleak is one of her favorite mottos “Nothing great is ever achieve without enduring”, St Catherine of Siena.

Reflection of the Internship Experience at NAVASA

The NAVASA internship program is truly something you'll remember. Its people are caring and devoted to the cause. The love that the NAVASA team has flows brilliantly into their work, and into their personal relationships with one another – so much so that these people become more than your co-workers, but your family. The internship program is most notably nurturing. Its leaders find out what your interests are and seek out helpful persons to meet and events to attend. Interns not only perform the needed tasks of day-to-day activities, but they are also encouraged to go out of the office to meet and interact with fellow D.C. peers. These meetings have shown themselves helpful on different levels, as they create wonderful networking channels interns to tap into and also as eye-opening experiences to how non-profit organizations work among each other to accomplish their goals. NAVASA is more than just an internship; it is a wonderful experience - you will be around amazing role models, you will attend practical conferences, and you will learn to examine things with a new critical eye.
