What should I do if I have a positive test result? |
Anyone with a positive result should always consult with a doctor for further examination. Chest x-rays or taking a sputum sample are a common methods of diagnosing TB disease. Some patients with negative results may still be infected with tuberculosis. The infection may not be detected due to a weakened immune system or recent infection, since it takes a few weeks from time of exposure for a positive reaction to the skin test. |
