Why may I get a positive reading on the skin test if I
don't have tuberculosis disease?

In some countries outside of the United States , people are vaccinated against TB with the BCG vaccine. This vaccine can trigger a positive result with the TB skin test. BCG vaccine is not used in the U.S. because it interferes with the TB skin test, which is the primary method of TB identification in this country.
