How is cervical cancer treated? |
There are currently three standard treatment options: surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy: Surgery can be done to remove cancer tissue if the cancer has not become invasive and attacked other organs. Radiation uses x-rays to kill cancer cells and can be administered externally or internally, using devices to release radiation near the cancer site. Chemotherapy involves the use of drugs, either taken orally or intravenously, to kill cancer cells. Patients may also request to participate in clinical trials of other treatment options. |
