What is HPV?

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a sexually transmitted virus involved with over 95% of cervical cancer cases. HPV infection is the major risk factor for cervical cancer. There are over 100 types of HPV and only a few are known to be associated with the development of abnormal cells leading to cancer.
