When do I need to get my first mammogram?

At age 40 a woman should get a mammogram once every one to two years. At age 50 she should start getting a mammogram every year. If you have a history of breast cancer in your family or any other combination of risk factors, your doctor may recommend that you get your first mammogram before you turn 40.
